Modletín community
Our community Benediktus has been inspired by life in L'Arche communities where people with disabilities live together with people without disabilities. We are learning to live in a community, to reveal our vocation to live in relationships with the disabled and with each other, to learn to work together and to build our community. In the community we are all called to cooperate and work together because we are fond of each other and feel that we want to walk in the same direction. Everyone has their gift they seek to develop and everyone has their work. Community requires precise organization. This is true for the common life where you need to cook, shop, wash the dishes, clean, launder, receive visitors, secure funding...
The important part of living together is the work - an opportunity to develop our skills, to fulfill oneself in anything we can do and like, what is useful and helpful for others. Similarly to other L'Arche communities we have workshops that are places of working together, of creative activities and therapy. Workshops are especially places of intense relationships between assistants and people with disabilities.
The festive moments also have an important place in the community - a common prayer, trips, meetings and celebrations. Feast is the fuel for the heart, returning hope and strength to us, so that we are able to survive suffering and problems of everyday life. People need this time when we all come together as a community, we are grateful for life together, sing, dance, share our stories…
